About the event
ARTIST
Concilium musicum Wien
Our ensemble was founded in 1982 by Paul and Christoph Angerer, initially to perform works from the 18th century. Over the course of its development, the ensemble's repertoire has continuously expanded. Today, it is known for its broad musical spectrum, although its focus is clearly on Austrian Baroque, Haydn and Mozart and their circle, as well as 19th-century Viennese dance music.
The Concilium musicum Wien brings valuable music from the archives to life in its diverse programs, performs music by unjustly forgotten composers, and re-evaluates rarely heard works by the great classical composers. The ensemble performs on historically original and authentic instruments from the time the works were composed. The Concilium musicum Wien performs in various formations, primarily as a chamber music ensemble, but also in orchestral settings, and enjoys success both in Austria and abroad.
Based in Vienna, it is the ensemble in residence of the Haydn Society of Vienna. Radio and television recordings, as well as numerous sound recordings, document its multifaceted repertoire.
